Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG) organises a seminar dedicated to internal control functions

On Wednesday, June 14th, 2023, the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG) held an
international seminar in the Marriott Rabat that was focused on internal control functions
(ICFs), positioning them as crucial catalysts for creating value for long-term investors.
This seminar, crafted in partnership with the Long-Term Investors Club (D20 LTIC), is a
component of the 7th edition of the CDG International Program for Africa. To serve the
cause, a special task force concerning control professions was established within the D20
LTIC Club, initiated by CDG and endorsed by the EIB.

By arranging workshops and hosting topic-specific debates, the seminar sought to bolster
knowledge, endorse commendable practices, and foster conversation and benchmarking
among the leaders of internal control functions within D20 LTIC member financial
institutions.

The program of the seminar revolved around four central themes: the trials and strategic
alignment of control functions, the distribution of control responsibility between process
owners and ICFs, the involvement of ICFs as contributors and advisors in strategic planning
processes, and the input of ICFs in the management of information systems security.
Several experts, representing an array of countries across the continents of Africa, Asia,
and Europe, participated in the event. The seminar was presided over by Mr. Mohamed
Sulaimani, the Deputy Managing Director of CDG.

At the opening of the seminar, Ms. Mouna Dakka, Inspector General of the CDG Group, who
was representing General Management, underscored the significant role control functions
play in generating wealth within development finance institutions.
This seminar, besides being a platform to present and share best practices in the domain
of internal control among Club members, sparked engaging discussions and established an
ongoing dialogue framework between D20 LTIC internal control specialists and their
equivalents at the Forum des Caisses de Dépôt Africaines.
