The third edition of the WIA Young Leaders initiative renews Huawei's commitment to supporting African women's leadership


Building on the success of the two previous editions, Huawei Northern Africa, a key player in Africa's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, is proud to announce the renewal of its partnership with the WIA Young Leaders programme for this third edition, which promises to be just as inspiring.

The Women in Africa (WIA) Young Leaders programme, jointly sponsored by Maison Dior, Huawei Northern Africa, Lazard investment bank, auditing and consulting firm KPMG, and TotalEnergies, aims to mentor, support and showcase African women's strong leadership potential. This year, WIA Young Leaders and its partners are committed to supporting 10 women in Africa and the diaspora, between the ages of 25 and 40, in developing their businesses and improving their social impact.

“We are delighted to be involved in this initiative, which empowers young African women to build their leadership potential and acquire the skills to participate and play a vital role in Africa's economic growth. Huawei shares the vision of an inclusive and innovative Africa. We are convinced that, to further digital inclusion, women must play a crucial role in ICT and in Africa's digital and economic transformation,” said Edmonde Djiokeng, Huawei's Public Relations Director for the CEMAC region.

The winners of the programme will undergo a personalised training programme designed to provide them with the fundamental leadership and professional skills necessary to achieve their goals and ambitions. They will be supported throughout by renowned mentors and will benefit from an immersive experience in the form of a business trip to a global economic capital. They will also be given access to a high-level professional network, which will give them significant exposure at international events.

This renewed partnership is a demonstration of Huawei Northern Africa's commitment to promoting women's entrepreneurship and the digital, economic and social inclusion of women in Africa, who are a pillar of the continent's economic growth.

Applications for the WIA Young Leaders programme are open until midnight (CET) on 21 April 2023.
