Masen announces the launch of the request for qualification process for the Noor Midelt II solar project

Masen announces the launch of the RfQ for the second plant of the Noor Midelt solar complex : Noor Midelt II. The launch of the RfQ is the first step in the selection process of the future private partner in charge of the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a solar power station with storage.

In order to ensure a stable power injection into the grid of , approximately, 190 MW during peak hours and 230 MW during the day, Noor Midelt II will bring into competition all the solar technologies with mature storage, including Photovoltaics (PV) and Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) associated with various thermal storage technologies or battery.

In this regard, Mr. Mustapha Bakkoury, CEO of Masen, has stated: "Innovation is a driver of Masen's action. The hybridization between the CSP and PV in the Noor Midelt I plant, which significantly reduced the price per kilowatt-hour, is a proof of that. Today, as part of Noor Midelt II, we continue our quest for optimization and we want to take full advantage of the latest technological developments offered by the market, particularly in energy storage, in order to further improve the yields and the costs of our projects".

The Noor Midelt II plant will allow to seek new technological horizons by giving private developers the opportunity to offer optimal configurations combining PV, CSP, thermal storage, or electric batteries.
